Disable the overlay scrollbars in Ubuntu 11.04

In Ubuntu 11.04 the overlay scrollbars are default, but not everybody like them. They do look nice and slick, but are a pain to use. Fortunately, it's very easy to disable the overlay scrollbars.

Here's how to revert them to the old looks:

sudo su
echo "export LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0" > /etc/X11/Xsession.d/80overlayscrollbars

They're still around even after removing the package. I even restarted my computer for good measure after logging out and back in didn't do the trick. Are there any gconf settings I need to edit or anything?
